Outline
SoHo Sins is a dark, character-driven psychological drama that centers on several mysteries. Who killed socialite art collector Beatrice Oliver? Why has her high-tech billionaire husband falsely confessed to the crime? Is Philip Oliver protecting his voluptuous young Italian painter mistress? Is he losing his mind, as his doctors claim? Does his embittered ex-wife have a hand in the murder? Why is a video artist named Paul Morse so interested in Philip's twelve-year-old daughter? Can any marriage or friendship survive in the decadent art world of SoHo in Lower Manhattan? A no-nonsense NYPD homicide detective named Hogan and a stylish art dealer named Jackson Wyeth partner up to learn the answers—and find to their astonishment that nothing is more dangerous than innocence.
SoHo Sins, the crime novel, has been described as "Raymond Chandler meets the Great Gatsby." An art collector and high-tech billionaire confesses to killing his socialite wife. But the man's mind is going, and not even the police are sure they believe him. A no-nonsense homicide detective enlists the aid of an old friend, now a successful art dealer in the bohemian-chic neighborhood of SoHo in Lower Manhattan. Following leads through the area's galleries, bars, boutiques, museums, and clubs, the two discover that the collector's young daughter is now in danger from a Jeffrey Epstein-style porno ring. In the end, the girl triumphs over everyone—the rich and powerful, the criminal and the perverse—including her own mother and the man who loved her despite himself.
The script is never didactic about the art world, seamlessly incorporating the language and atmosphere of the art world’s upper-crust. The worldbuilding is voyeuristic and thus enthralling. Not to mention that the depiction of an Epstein-esque conspiracy is incisive and of the modern zeitgeist.
